It was signaled with the blowing of the shofar, and upon hearing that sound it was celebration time. The year after 7 sets of 7 years it was the Year of Jubilee that all anticipated. The significance of the number 50 was well established in the Jewish faith and culture. Most importantly, it just all had to be 50 days after Passover. Acts 2:1 just says, “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come…” there was a “suddenly.” It could have been late at night or early morning when “a sound of a mighty rushing wind” came in and filled their room, because at 9AM Peter is explaining to the crowd that had gathered that the “drunkenness" people thought they were observing couldn’t be from natural wine, as it was early in the morning. There is no specific minute or hour for a visitation to align with Acts 2, and especially so as we realize time zones across the world put as in different equations.

Did you know that there are 50 days in the Easter season? Not one, but 50! That’s even more days than there are in Lent! The Easter season begins with Easter Sunday, and ends with Pentecost.
